Provident is nearly 100 years old. She has eight sails, a skipper, a mate, a bosun, a cook and on this particular week eleven assorted apprentice sailors including me and my sister. Together we braved fair winds and foul, seasickness and dolphins, pump failures and sunburn, starlight sailing and fog, island exploration and a mayday call. Not to mention some lost racing pigeons and an extreme game of Dobble.
