Combine some wood with some copper chloride, copper sulphate and a spot of saltpeter. Light the whole thing on fire and you can get some pretty magical effects. There are few things like standing in the snow with the wind howling around, watching multi-coloured flames burning in the dark. There are definitely times when I miss living in the countryside.
It's the end of the year, and a time to think about everything that has happened. I find gazing into a fire a very good way of doing that. Happy New Year everyone!
