Whilst I hate most winter days - the lack of sunlight for days on end and bone-piercing cold - when the sun shines, it really does shine. There is a unique beauty to the winter sun's harsh and remote light, and its ability to create razor sharp yet greatly extruded shadows, even in the middle of the day.
