As October gave way to November, for about two weeks the south-west of England sat in perpetual gloom, owing to a massive spread of very dense and seemingly unmoving cloud. This was snapped in the first week of November, when we took the dogs to the beach for some fresh air and absolutely no sunshine. You can just make out the shadowy disc of the sun in the top-right of the image though.
